ABOUT ME My name is Sarah Stewart. I’m an illustrator and printmaker from Saint Peters, a city just shy of Saint Louis, Missouri. I started drawing and creating artwork all the way back in middle school where I would doodle my favorite cartoon characters in class. From there I explored conceptual artwork and took a wide variety of art classes in high school, varying from ceramics to graphic design to painting to mixed media and three-dimensional works. Though most of my work balances between personalized character commissions and assignments for Webster University classes, I do enjoy creating artwork for myself in the meantime. Over the past few years of my time at Webster, I have learned that I enjoy making work that explores self-love and self-care. Understanding yourself is a journey that never ends, even if you believe you’ve reached the end.
There is always something else to grow through and love. Additionally, everyone has an individual and unique experience, which is something I find very beautiful. Over time I have established myself on the internet and social medias as a commission artist... where I draw other people’s characters at a fixed rate. I have been doing commissions for about three years through Instagram and Discord. I have co-illustrated a book written by my mother. I have also written and illustrated two comics. One was for AP Studio Art in my Junior year of high school, the second was a fanmade comic playing off Hasbro’s My Little Pony characters. Storytelling and character design were fun avenues to explore with artmaking, but as of lately I have been called to printmaking.
